Election Day is the perfect opportunity to teach students about how elections work and get them curious about what the adults in their world do around election season.
Although many teachers think that Election Day is merely a social studies topic, it is possible to do a complete day of election-themed activities to include ALL subjects.
Printable Election Day Activities for each subject:
ELA: There are so many ways to include elections and voting in your ELA block. Reading a non-fiction book or even a fictional story about voting can give students the much needed background on the topic.
I have the perfect election day reader suitable for first and second graders in my bundle here.
Writing: After giving students background about how elections work, encourage students to write about what kind of president or elected official they would want to become one day. Not only is this a great creative writing activity, it encourages students to think about the ways they can improve the world around them.
Math: I love incorporating color by number activities when teaching a themed topic for an entire day. With these activities, students practice their math skills and also get a beautiful themed picture to color too!

Bonus fun activities: One game that is great to play for a themed day like election day is BINGO! BINGO is a perfect game to play because it can provide a fun way for students to learn election-themed vocabulary.
Another fun activity that can be done with students on election day is a directed drawing! There are plenty of places where you can find directed drawing videos such as Art Hub on Youtube.
